Micropreemie Twins Defy All Odds

Micropreemie twins Henry and Hudson Whorton were born at 24 weeks at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas, weighing just under two pounds. After spending more than 100 days in the neonatal intensive care unit, the twins have defied all odds. “Hudson had a heart defect that needed to be surgically closed with a device placement and Henry had a severe bleed in the lung that made him very sick,” said Abhinav Pal, M.D., neonatologist at Pediatrix® Neonatology of Topeka. Now, the twins are thriving. “Henry is very outgoing, he’s friends with everybody,” said mom Alexis. “Hudson is also determined. He’s almost walking and kind of is a role model for Henry, so I think that’s a good thing.”
