Atlanta doctors are exploring virtual maternity care for moms. In addition to the convenience it affords, helping to cut down on travel time to appointments, the program is also improving access to care and catching issues faster. “So, there was a patient with no history of blood pressure problems, and as she’s taking her blood pressures weekly, we started to notice her blood pressure was high,” said Jill Purdie, M.D., OBGYN and practice medical director at Northside Women’s Specialists, part of Pediatrix® Medical Group. “She ultimately did have preeclampsia and we were able to catch that earlier.”
