If your twins share opposite features, as though they were looking at themselves in a mirror, they may be considered mirror twins. According to Sasha Andrews, M.D., a maternal-fetal medicine specialist at Obstetrix® of Colorado, part of Pediatrix® Medical Group, mirror twins are an unofficial category of identical twins. They may have opposing traits that aren’t only connected to their physical appearance. For example, you might see opposing differences in their teeth, their vision or in their dominant hand (i.e., one twin is left-handed and the other is right-handed), said Dr. Andrews.
