When something new crops up on your body, like bumps on your nipples, it’s natural to have questions. Our minds often assume the worst – cancer. But that tends to manifest itself as a "lump within the tissue of the breast itself and not on the skin surface," said Jill Purdie, M.D., an OBGYN and medical director at Northside Women’s Specialists, part of Pediatrix® Medical Group. Bumps are typically a normal occurrence. According to Dr. Purdie, they can be caused by ingrown hairs, skin tags, eczema or Paget disease of the breast.
