From the NICU to High School Graduation

After inhaling meconium during labor, newborn Gwen Wilde needed critical medical intervention upon delivery. Pediatrix-affiliated neonatologist Dr. Jennifer Grow, who had just completed her fellowship, rushed Gwen to the ambulance and escorted her to nearby Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron, Ohio. Feeling helpless, Gwen’s parents held onto hope and prayed for the opportunity to bring Gwen home. “That’s what a parent is supposed to do is have hope beyond hope and faith beyond faith and we come along and a lot of times we add to that hope, and we add to that faith,” said Dr. Grow. In May, a healthy Gwen graduated high school with honors and is on her way to college.
