While Claritin helps control pesky seasonal allergies, some people may experience side effects such as headaches, dry mouth, drowsiness and increased nervousness. However, it’s not expected for women to experience any increased side effects when taking Claritin during their pregnancy, according to Jill Purdie, M.D., medical director and OBGYN at Northside Women’s Specialists, part of Pediatrix Medical Group. “There are no dangers pregnant women should be aware of if they take Claritin,” said Dr. Purdie. However, there should always be a conversation between parents-to-be and their doctors when it comes to any medication.
