Kids and the Omicron variant

COVID-19 cases in children continue to rise, with a 64% increase in recent weeks. The latest Omicron variant is a sure culprit to the climb in cases. “Some factors that could be contributing include increased transmissibility of the Omicron variant; more COVID testing available and being performed, including home testing; and more people indoors due to cooler weather,” said Zachary Hoy, M.D., a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Pediatrix Nashville Pediatric Infectious Disease.
