There are some things experts advise you don’t do after giving birth to aid in your postpartum journey. One is to not reject offers for help. “Ask for help when you need it and call your doctor with questions or concerns," said Suzy Lipinski, M.D., a board-certified OBGYN and medical director at Obstetrix® of Colorado, part of Pediatrix® Medical Group. "This is a stressful time, and you will need the support of friends and family.” Another tip is to not neglect self-care. Sleep when your baby is asleep and take naps when other people are around to care for the baby, suggested Dr. Lipinski. “It's OK if things aren’t perfect. Your body needs to recover, and you need to take care of yourself.”
