Niharika Samtani, M.D.

Dr. Samtani received her medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY in 2009 and completed her General Pediatric Residency at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx, NY in 2012. She subsequently served as a Pediatric Hospitalist at the Tufts Floating Hospital for Children in Boston, MA. After two years in this role, she embarked on a Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital from 2014-2017. Upon graduation, she relocated to Tampa, FL and worked as a Pediatric Intensivist and Pediatric Hospitalist with a collaborative faculty role as an Assistant Professor with the University of South Florida. After starting a family, she moved to Bethesda, MD to work as a Pediatric Intensivist at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center with an appointment as an Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Her area of specialty is Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and she is board certified in both fields by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Born in New Delhi, India she moved to the United States with her family at age 11 months and was raised in upstate New York. Dr. Samtani moved to Richmond, VA with her family to work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital (part of the Bon Secours Mercy Health System) in summer of 2022.
Dr. Samtani’s compassion for children continues outside of the hospital as she is a regular contributor to the Save the Children Foundation.
When not working, Dr. Samtani can usually be found taking her 3-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son to the local gardens and library story time. She and her husband are excited to be in the Richmond area and are looking forward to raising their young family here.
