Heather Sykora, WHNP

About

Heather received her BSN from California State University, Long Beach where she developed a love for labor and delivery and women’s health. After graduation, she started working in the labor and delivery unit at Long Beach Memorial Center, where she continued to work as an RN. She has been working in labor and delivery since 2016 and loves it! She is currently an RN III and has her RN certification in inpatient obstetrics (RNC-OB). A few years after starting her RN career, she made the decision to go back to CSULB for her Master of Science degree in Nursing, specifically as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. While obtaining her master’s degree, Heather gained experience orienting at LBMMC’s OBGYN Clinic, working alongside fellow nurse practitioners, OB residents and MFM’s.

After graduating with her master’s and becoming a board-certified WHNP, an opportunity arose to begin working as a WHNP in high-risk maternal-fetal medicine at Magella Medical Group with Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists of Southern California, part of Pediatrix. Heather has been working here since 2020. She has experience with IUD and Nexplanon insertions, as well as EMB’s. Heather has been ultrasound certified for limited 3rd trimester ultrasounds. Primarily, she see’s women for new OB visits, prenatal visits, incision checks and postpartum visits.

In her free time, Heather enjoys travelling and spending time at the beach with her family.
