Dr. Stelnicki received his training in pediatric plastic surgery and craniofacial surgery at the prestigious New York University Institute of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at NYU Medical Center. There he was taught by some of the greatest minds in plastic surgery who helped refine Dr. Stelnicki's skills and showed him the importance of continually working to advance the specialty of plastic surgery through research, resident training, community involvement and charity.
His training at NYU helped Dr. Stelnicki bring innovations such as nasoalveolar molding for the treatment of cleft lip and palate, new methods of mandible and maxillary distraction for reshaping jawbones, endoscopic surgery for the treatment of craniosynostosis, virtual surgical planning for facial reconstruction and many other advances to South Florida.
Dr. Stelnicki also was exposed to some of the greatest cosmetic surgeons who helped refine his aesthetic surgery techniques used for both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery patients. He also learned advanced fat-grafting techniques, which he uses weekly in facial and body restorative surgery. Dr. Stelnicki is currently the only plastic surgeon in Broward, Palm Beach and Collier counties and the U.S. Virgin Islands to have a reconstructive practice focused solely on children.
In addition, Dr. Stelnicki completed a general plastic surgery fellowship at Washington University Barnes Teaching Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. There he was trained by some of plastic surgery's greatest leaders in the full scope of plastic surgery, including pediatric plastic surgery, hand surgery, microvascular and nerve reconstructive surgery, body recontouring, breast augmentation and reconstruction, lipoplasty, Mommy Makeover surgery, rhinoplasty and a host of other plastic surgery techniques.
This training has given Dr. Stelnicki the ability to operate on all parts of the body and to tackle even the most difficult reconstructive cases. Patients from all over the world seek out the advice and expertise of Dr. Eric Stelnicki for their plastic surgery needs.
Dr. Stelnicki also trained at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) in the pediatric and fetal surgery department. He performed a research fellowship at UCSF as well, and he is one of the few plastic surgeons in the country to receive a prestigious National Institutes of Health (NIH) R01 research grant for the study of scarless wound healing.
Additionally, Dr. Eric Stelnicki has received advanced training in hair transplantation, making him one of the few plastic surgeons in South Florida to offer this life-changing procedure to his patients. Dr. Stelnicki is skilled in both follicular unit transplantation (FUT) and follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplantation, offering both to his patients. He uses a variety of nonsurgical hair restoration methods for appropriate patients. Dr. Stelnicki transplants hair for male and female pattern baldness, but also for restoration of scalp or facial hair in the reconstruction of cleft lip, craniosynostosis, burns and post-traumatic injuries.
Dr. Stelnicki's research is presented each year at some of the most prestigious national and international plastic surgery meetings, where he is a leader and innovator in the field. In addition, he is the founder of the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Cleft and Craniofacial Center, which, under his guidance, is now Florida's largest craniofacial center of excellence.
Medical Missions and Charity Work
Dr. Stelnicki is involved in many charity organizations throughout South Florida. He is the founder of CHARM (Children's Health and Rehabilitative Missions), a 501(c)3 registered charity that raised money for children in need of complex medical care in South Florida and around the world who cannot afford to receive it. Dr. Stelnicki performs mission work each year in places of severe need, such as Guyana, Honduras, Africa and China.
On a personal note, Dr. Eric Stelnicki is the proud father of four daughters and understands what it means to be a parent and a husband. He understands how anxiety-provoking it can be when a loved one has a problem that requires surgery. It is his goal to treat each patient like he would treat his own family, and he strives to do his best to improve the quality of life for each of his patients.
