A couple from Arvada, Colorado and lifelong fans of the Avalanche hockey team recently celebrated the Stanley Cup win with their 4-month-old identical boy triplets, a rarity that comes with many pregnancy risks. According to Sasha Andrews, M.D., MFM specialist at Obstetrix® of Colorado, part of Pediatrix® Medical Group, only one in every 100,000 births contains a set of identical triplets. “It’s one of the highest risk pregnancies that my practice sees,” said Dr. Andrews. “With triplets, you can have pre-term birth, preeclampsia or high blood pressure of pregnancy.”
