We are committed to ensuring every child and their family receives compassionate, high-quality care from our physicians. Our pediatric hospitalists are available 24/7 to provide care to children with various illnesses or injuries who require hospitalization. We work closely with your child’s primary care physician to ensure the best possible care and outcomes. Additionally, our pediatric hospitalists will keep you and your child’s primary care physician updated on your child’s progress, communicating all necessary information.

Our focus on pediatric hospitalist medicine allows us to provide enhanced care due to our extensive knowledge and experience. Bringing expertise and compassion to pediatric patients, our dedicated pediatric hospitalists manage the complex needs of infants, children and adolescents during their hospital stay.

Infectious Disease

Our pediatric infectious disease specialist evaluates and treats infectious diseases in children of all ages to help prevent the spread of infection. Dr. Jane Atkins provides the most up-to-date and cutting edge treatments and interventions to patients in San Antonio and the surrounding communities.

A child may be referred to a pediatric infectious disease specialist for a variety of reasons, including:

Recurrent fevers or infections
Immune deficiencies
International adoption and travel medicine
Needlestick exposure
Pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcal infections (PANDAS)
Serious or life-threatening infections

To help put patients and their families at ease, we have an on-site kid-friendly lab draw station staffed with pediatric-trained nurses. We can typically obtain labs, x-rays and ultrasound scans during one clinic visit.
