The Level IV neonatal intensive care unit at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina provides critical care services for over 700 infants each year. The in-house neonatologists and dedicated staff are skilled at providing advanced respiratory support including bubble CPAP and high-frequency ventilation, presurgical and postsurgical care, nutritional support, and therapeutic hypothermia (total body cooling) for our infants.
As a family-centered NICU, we welcome parents to visit, actively participate in the care of their infant, and take time to recharge in the nearby NICU family lounge. Our dedicated neonatal transport team and specially equipped ambulance can transport infants from a radius of 120 miles, allowing us to provide critical respiratory support and total body cooling even before an infant arrives in our NICU. An extensive team of inpatient pediatric subspecialists including surgeons and cardiologists are readily available to support the care of our infants. Even after discharge, our patients continue to be supported through the developmental follow-up clinic.
In addition to caring for babies at our level IV NICU, our physicians also care for infants at Level II Special Care Nurseries in the rapidly growing suburban cities of Matthews and Huntersville, North Carolina. The neonatologists are also dedicated to supervising the care of over 8,000 well newborns admitted in the mother-baby units at our four Charlotte-area Novant Health facilities.
