Pediatrix Specialty Care of Florida

About Our Practice

Our mission is to provide compassionate, world-class care to babies and children while supporting families throughout their child’s hospital stay. We strive to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care with an emphasis on open communication to ensure our patients and their families feel cared for and nurtured.

Neonatology

Having a newborn with urgent medical needs can be an overwhelming experience. Our neonatal specialists embrace collaboration to provide world-class, family-centered care and support for your baby.

When your baby is premature or critically ill, you want to know that he or she is receiving the best, most compassionate care possible. Our highly skilled neonatologists, neonatal hospitalists and advanced practice providers are dedicated to providing the specialized care your child needs. Our neonatal specialists are trained to handle complex and high-risk situations, including extreme prematurity, serious illness and congenital abnormalities.

Each family’s situation is unique, and every baby requires customized, compassionate, patient-centered neonatology care. Your baby will receive the attention and expertise necessary for the best possible outcome.

Neonatology Conditions

Through our partnerships with local hospitals, we collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of pediatric medical specialists, nurses, respiratory therapists and other rapid-response personnel to ensure your sick or critically ill newborn baby receives the precise care they need exactly when they need it.

Pediatric Critical Care Medicine

Our team of pediatric intensivists provides pediatric critical care medicine in pediatric intensive care units (PICUs) with compassion, dedication and knowledge.

Our pediatric intensivists are trained to provide critical care to young patients. They manage the complex and potentially life-threatening conditions of infants, children and adolescents. Our clinicians understand the unique needs of children and can administer the appropriate tests, treatments and medications they need to heal.

Common Conditions We Treat in the PICU Include:

  • Acute renal failure
  • Acute viral and bacterial infections, such as pneumonia and meningitis
  • Complications from cancer or blood disorders
  • Congenital cardiac disease
  • Diabetic ketoacidosis
  • Severe respiratory illnesses, such as asthma
  • Trauma caused by accidents or abuse

Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine

Our practice collaborates with local pediatricians and other physicians to provide around-the-clock care to hospitalized patients. Our pediatric hospitalists care for children during hospitalization, examine them daily and keep parents and referring physicians updated.

Our pediatric hospitalists don’t replace your child’s primary physician but instead partner with them to treat their patients while they are hospitalized. You can rest assured knowing that since our pediatric hospitalists only provide care in the hospital, they are always available.
