Dr. Cristina Colón-Aponte is a dedicated physician specializing in Maternal Fetal Medicine. Dr. Colon-Aponte obtained her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. She then completed an Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, where she also served as Administrative Chief Resident. Later, she pursued a Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she held the role of Administrative Chief Fellow for three consecutive years.

After completing her training, Dr. Colon-Aponte served as Assistant Professor in the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Miami, where she was the clerkship Director for the MFM Advanced Clinical Elective. Currently, Dr. Colon-Aponte practices Maternal Fetal Medicine at Pediatrix. Dr. Colon-Aponte's commitment to excellence is evident through her numerous honors and awards, including the Exemplary Physician Award and recognition for Best Fellow Research Presentation. She has contributed significantly to the field through her research endeavors, focusing on prenatal diagnosis, cardiovascular changes in pregnancy, and the impact of socioeconomic factors on maternal health. A committed physician specializing in Maternal Fetal Medicine, Dr. Colon-Aponte clinical interest areas, include the management of diabetes and hypertension in pregnancy, where she focuses on ensuring optimal maternal and fetal outcomes amidst these complex conditions. As well as cervical incompetence and pregnancy loss.
