About Our Practice

San Antonio Pediatric Surgery Associates (SAPSA) was founded in 1999 with the mission of delivering the most modern state-of-the-art pediatric general and thoracic surgery for the children of San Antonio and South Texas. Now Pediatrix Surgery of San Antonio, the practice has grown into a multidisciplinary practice to include 8 fellowship-trained Pediatric Surgeons who are committed to the highest possible standards of excellence in the surgical care of infants, children and adolescents. Our surgeons have over a hundred years of combined experience and use a team approach to the diagnosis and management of your patient’s surgical disorder. Each surgeon is board certified and experienced in the management of both common and rare surgical diseases of children. Our surgeons have lectured and published on a wide range of topics in the field of pediatric surgery and are actively involved in the training of surgical residents and medical students. Our affiliation with Pediatrix in 2011 has augmented our mission to “Take great care of the patient, every day and in every way”. We look forward to our continued collaboration with our primary care and sub-specialty partners in providing the regions most advanced surgical care for their patients.

We continue to lead on the forefront of surgical innovation and expertise, especially in the field of minimally invasive surgery. Now with 3 pediatric surgeons trained on the DaVinci robotic surgical platform, patients receiving care from our group can expect shorter hospital stays and improved pain control in the postoperative period across a wide and comprehensive variety of surgical procedures. Having performed the first general pediatric robotic surgery in the city of San Antonio in 2019, Dr. Michael Megison recently achieved another first in the field of pediatric robotic surgery by performing the first pediatric surgery procedure worldwide on Intuitive’s newest dV5 robotic platform. As the practice of pediatric surgery advances into the future, we as a group are excited to continue to provide the highest level of surgical care for the pediatric population in San Antonio.

Office Locations

We offer office consultations and follow-up visits at our Methodist Plaza main office, our Stone Oak Specialty clinic, New Braunfels clinic, and at the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio office location (plastic surgery only).

Hospital Locations

We currently see patients and perform procedures at Methodist Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, North Central Baptist Hospital, University Hospital and St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital (neonatal patients only).

Consultations and Referrals

We are available for consultation or referral 24 hours per day, seven days per week. For your convenience, an on-call surgeon is available to referring physicians at all times by calling 210-615-8757.
